We have a wonderful and delicious meal tonight. Everything was fresh and delicious. The owner and server were attentive. The owner was kind enough to give us a fried eggplant/zucchini appetizer and a fried dough dessert.
After five or so visits so far, I have come to really love this chef-owned and operated new restaurant in New Rochelle. The grilled Octopus appetizer is a very large portion for the price (nearly twice the size of the Greek place down the road but for 2 less!) while being perfectly cooked and seasoned with olive oil, lemon, and fresh herbs. Delicious! I’ve twice tried the daily fish special entree - a full sized grilled Bronzino - and both times is was very fresh, flavorful, and flakey just as it should be. The “Poseidon Thalassina” seafood combination platter is another favorite dish. All the dips we have tried so far have been excellent. Love their pita bread too - flame cooked and served hot right off the grill. Nice atmosphere with several hand painted murals of Greece and similarly themed music playing overhead. They also now serve alcohol and have a decently varied wine selection, several novelty beers, and both red and white homemade Sangria. Just a short walk from the MetroNorth train station on the same street as Posto 22 and Wooden Spoon. On par with Dubrovnik’s for quality, yet more casual and quaint. Service is very attentive as it’s rarely crowded with only recently opening and still relatively undiscovered. Highly recommend.
The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. My lunch special which included a lamb gyro and homemade French fries was only 11.50. The appetizers were also delicious. We will definitely be back.
What a great lil spot for greek food!! It is a small cafe style place and the owner treats everyone like family. We had a shrimp skewer over a bed of rice which was a special and a lamb & chicken slouvlaki combination dinner. Both were amazingly delicious. We also had the homemade sangria which was sooo good and ended the evening with tha baklava and that was very good as well.
Must visit! Want authentic, phenomenal food at reasonable prices? This place it is. Upscale food, fantastic flavors, and great friendly service. I was so impressed, this was my first time and we stumbled upon it. The quality of food for the price was outstanding. It’s an intimate spot that’s decorated beautifully. The family next to us was their third time there in a month. The owner Adan, is very warm and welcoming. He’s been doing this for over a decade and has lived in Greece and was taught 1:1 by grandmother. We had two appetizers, sangria, vegetarian moussaka and chicken gyro sandwich. Of course we went home with baklava. Will be returning.
My experience at Pappous and Yaiyai's Kouzina in New Rochelle was nothing short of exceptional! First off, parking was plentiful which is always a plus when dining out in busy areas. As soon as we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere made us feel right at home. The decor had a genuine Greek vibe that set the perfect mood for the meal ahead. The staff deserves a special mention; they were friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcomed from the moment we stepped through the door. The cleanliness of the restaurant was impressive, with clean tables and a fresh restroom, showing attention to detail that enhances the overall dining experience. We opted for the seafood entree, which was incredibly tasty and well-suited for sharing between two. The highlight was undoubtedly the octopus - it was cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful, demonstrating the kitchen's skill with seafood. Everything tasted like it had just been grilled, enhancing the authenticity of the meal. I also took advantage of the lamb salad lunch special, which was a delightful surprise. The salad was fresh, with succulent lamb that complemented the greens beautifully. The menu was diverse and appealing, offering something for every palate while staying true to Greek culinary roots. Every dish seemed to promise a burst of Mediterranean flavors, making it hard to choose just one! I am already looking forward to my next visit to Pappous and Yaiyai's Kouzina. It's not just a restaurant; it's a delightful culinary journey back to the roots of Greek cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying dining experience in New Rochelle.
Needed a quick lunch decided to stop by this place and I’m glad I did. It’s small but service was good. I got the lunch special even on a Sunday which was a sandwich with fries for 11.50. I ordered the chicken sandwich and also the lamb gyro both were very good. The fries are homemade there and were really good as well. I also ordered the lemon chicken soup which good as well. I’m definitely coming back to this place.
Driving home we were looking for a good Greek restaurant to eat at. We came across Yia Yias. The reviews seemed really good, so we decided to go. We arrived to find a cozy Greek restaurant and was greeted by a very humble chef Adan. He was so genuine and also our server. Well, we started out with homemade sangria and grilled eggplant. Let me tell you, probably the best eggplant anywhere. My wife (born in Italy) was super impressed too!!! We then had Chicken Souvlakis Platters. Talk about authentic and delicious....... The closest to being back in Greece we’ve ever had. We were stuffed, but Adan insisted on a taste of desert. Well, the only way to top an amazing meal is a great desert. Not sure its name, but it was like zeppolis with Greek yogurt. Needless to say, we will be back whenever passing New Rochelle. Btw he has another location on flushing ave Brooklyn. Bottom line... looking for an authentic, great tasting Greek food look no further. Many years of success, you deserve it!!!!
